Francois Rahme - Lebanon

Festival Review by Beverley Joffe - 2006:
Francois Rahme, certainly one of my favourite instructors (though it is hard choosing one) is an exceptionally talented dancer and choreographer, working many years with the legendary Caracalla group.
He taught a Bedouin sword choreography as well as Andalusian harem dance with veil. He is one of the finest dancers I have ever seen – across all genres of dance – and his work in modern Oriental theatre is breathtaking. The folk roots and cultural mannerisms are ideally preserved in his dynamic choreographies, which call on a high level of application. He assumes you are warmed up and ready to hit the stage running, but is generous with his time in answering all questions and confirming the steps.

A Master dancer-choreography .. Started his dance career at a young age, and became in few years to be a soloist and a leading dancer at Caracalla dance troupe for over than 20 years.
Taught and danced various styles for several decades and performed worldwide
He is renowned for his large aspect dance form and versatility as a choreographer
Skilled in Lebanese folklore, oriental dance, Martha Graham style, and Ballet dance.
Created the choreography of many shows in Lebanon, Egypt and the Middle East

In 2010 he created the choreography of the musical play “Gibran lawhet Omer, a dancing story telling about the main phases of “Gibran Khalil Gibran’s life” which was the opening concert of Batroun Festival of that year than continued later at Casino du Liban theatre
In 2011, Francois choreographed the musical “ Min Ayam Salaheddin” Days from Salaheddin time”, which was designed exclusively for Baalbek Festival
Nowadays, Francois is preparing the dancing sequence for Baalbek Festival 2014
He believes that technique is very important , however, the result should lead to a beauty, because, in his opinion, art without beauty cannot touch the audience
